MONEAGUE COLLEGE HONOURS STAFF, BOARD MEMBERS FOR LONG SERVICE

The Moneague College honored some of its loyal, reliable and hardworking employees and board members for long service, at an awards ceremony at Jewel Runaway Bay Resort on Tuesday. June 17. Board members who served the College for three (3) terms and more and staff members across all categories, who have served the institution for a minimum of l5 years, were honored at the awards. Howard Isaacs, principal gave the welcome, followed by opening remarks by chairman for the event, Daniel ‘DJ’ Campbell, manager of St Ann branch of the JTA Co-operative Credit Union. Board chairman Leon Gordon; vice chairman, Rev. Michael Llewellyn, Creighton Knight, Jean King were all awarded for their service. Dr. Stuart McKoy, who should also have been awarded was absent. The college band provided soothing music during dinner. Following dinner, remarks came from Mr Gordon, chairman; Lloyd Garrick, councillor,  and Karlene Segre, education officer. Fabian Taylor, president-elect gave greetings on behalf of the student body. This was followed by an item from the college staff. Guest speaker, Patricia Eves McKenzie, was introduced by Andrea Bryan Hughes, lecturer. Staff presentations began with Joseph McKenzie, senior lecturer asking Gloria Johnson, past principal of the college, to present awards to members of the ancillary staff. They are:  Ionie Clarke, for 25 years; Elizabeth Treasure, for 20 years; Keith Hamilton,  for 18 years and, longest serving casual worker, Victoria Thompson, also known as Ms Tiny who has given over 20 years  to the  college. Absent were: Marcel Willis, also known as Bill, for 27 years; Clarence Campbell also known as Manley, for 27 years; Turnel Campbell also known as Billy, for 20 years and  Lilieth Perry for 20 years. Reading and presentation of citations was done by Raymond Tuckett, Kenice Harvey, Nicole Betton -Wilson, Dr. Muriel Scott and Julian Lynch. Jean King, board member, then did presentations to retirees.  Reinoh Bartlett-Spencer, vice principal of academics was invited to hand out the awards to: Julian Lynch, for 25 years; Beverly Wilson and Serene Allen, both for 17 years. Absent were Jacqueline Francis, for 27 years and Michael Graham, for 26 years. Mr Isaacs, acknowledged the academic staff members: Uriah Atkinson, for 21 years, Reinoh Bartletl-Spencer, for 21 years; Jacqueline Thames, for 21 years; Sandra Brown for 21 years; Muriel Scott, for 20 years; Nora Murray, for I8 years; Canute Clarke, for I7 years, Erica Dixon, for I6 years; Marcia Nembhard, for 16 years; Elvia Wright, for 16 years; Orthnel Hewitt, for I5 years. Academic staff members who were absent and who should have received awards were: Claudette Nolan, for 20 years; Lascelles Williams, for I7 years; Carlton Freckleton, for I6 years; Christopher Irons, for 15 years and Marvette James, for 15 years. A presentation was then done by Andrene Lord, lecturer, followed by a musical item by saxophonist. , Jacqueline Thames vice principal did the vote of thanks to conclude a well spend evening.
