Police have confirmed that the mother of the four-year-old girl from Highgate who perished in a fire Tuesday morning has also died.
Thirty-eight-year-old Rose Beecher, a bartender of Dean Pen district, Highgate had been hospitalised after the fire Tuesday morning. She died on Wednesday.
Police reports are that their home was firebombed by unknown assailant/s on Tuesday, October 18. Reports from the Port Maria Police are that at about 3:30 a.m., Beecher was at home with her relatives when an explosion woke them up. Shortly after, the house was seen on fire.
The Police and the Fire Department were alerted and Beecher was taken to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries while being treated. The charred remains of her four-year-old daughter, Sariah Kowen, were seen among the debris after the cooling down operation. Other family members escaped unhurt.
Police had said they had a suspect in custody in connection with the incident.
