Founder and coordinator of the show Nicole Hibbert said the idea for such an event for the community was born from the need to engage with young ladies who are  15-21 years old to bring to the forefront their talents and creativity. “I look forward to working with these girls as many would not have thought of participating in such an event but after a while, it takes away their insecurity and builds their confidence,” Hibbert said.

Hibbert, who was a second runner-up in the Miss Ocho Rios High School  Pageant in the late 90s, said Miss Highgate has been in existence for four years and the organizers have made it a priority to give back to the community.

“The community has been very supportive towards this yearly event so to show our appreciation we give back school supplies to children from Highgate and surrounding communities,” she said.

The event will be held at the Highgate Primary School starting at 8 p.m. MC will be Sophie.
