Born May 18, 1915 to parents Miriam Tenison Jones and Francis Jones, Enthlyn Victoria Jones-Cooke affectionately called ‘Miss Coolie’ celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and friends last month in fine style. Several generations of her family gathered at what could be described as a family reunion celebrating a milestone of an extraordinary woman.Coolie, one of five children from the union of her parents grew up in the Portland community of Lydah. She is described as loving, generous, jovial and easy-going.She praises the Lord for granting her the opportunity to reach such a milestone saying, “I feel alright as I thank the Lord for granting me long life as out of all my family I am the only one to reach one hundred.”As she came of age as a young adult she met the love of her life, Azariah Zepheniah Cooke whom she married and they had seven children; four girls and three boys. He died in 1993, aged 83. “I am just a going person. I don’t know why God make me live so long but I thank him,” she said.
