Minister of education Ruel Reid has apologized to educators for comments he made suggesting some were corrupt and extortionists.
Senator Reid gave the apology this morning, Wednesday, August 23. He was addressing the annual conference of the Jamaica teachers association in Montego Bay.
The education minister said he was making a public apology for comments he had made. He did not repeat the comments that were made in response to allegations some schools were insisting students should pay fees.
Senator Reid said even Jesus had said harsh words. He said he had thought about his comments and was sorry. He said he wanted to make the apology public.
Senator Reid then asked the teachers at the conference to stand hold hands and join him as he said the Lord’s Prayer.
