COPS SAY SIGNS OF STRUGGLE AT APARTMENT
ST ANN’S BAY, St Ann; Jan. 21, 2024
Mayor of St Ann’s Bay Michael Belnavis was admitted to hospital Tuesday afternoon, following an attack he suffered Monday night, January 20, 2025. Reports suggest he was at the hospital for additional checks and that his condition was stable.

At the same time, senior police officers from Area 2 Headquarters at Tower Isle and the St Mary police were at the apartment where Mr Belnavis was attacked and chopped in the upper body.
Sources told the North Coast Times that a man, believed to be of unsound mind, wielding a machete attacked Mr Belnavis at an unoccupied apartment the Mayor owns, close to Boscobel, St Mary. That is not his family home but he was there apparently to check some details of the final stages of completion.

Mr Belnavis, chairman of the St Ann Municipal Corporation, drove himself to St Ann’s Bay Hospital, in the neighbouring parish, where he was treated and released Monday night. But on Tuesday, January 21, he reported pain and discomfort and was admitted to the same hospital.
Meantime, on Tuesday evening senior detectives were at the scene of the attack at the apartment. Sources told the North Coast Times that it appeared from the blood stains that Mr Belnavis fought back, before escaping his attacker and making his way to the hospital.
