MAN TAKES OWN LIFE

The police in Moneague St Ann are investigating a case of suspected suicide, following the death of a 28-year-old man after reportedly dIMG-20140111-WA0000rinking a poisonous substance Saturday, January 11.Dead is Dimitri Hunter of Friendship District in Moneague, St Ann.  Reports are that Hunter’s uncle was at home on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m., when he received a call from his nephew’s girlfriend, telling him that Hunter was going to kill himself.It is further reported that checks by Hunter’s uncle found that he was “doing fine”. Later that same day, at around 1:40 p.m., the uncle was in a room when Hunter went to him and told him that he had drunk poison and was going to die. “Him come inna the room and say him drink poison and collapse,” said the uncle. Two other persons were also at the home at the time. Hunter was taken to hospital where he died on Monday, January 13.When the North Coast Times contacted Hunter’s uncle, Clifton Hunter, a welder with whom Dimitri lived all his life, he said Dimitri had internal conflicts with his girlfriend. This, the uncle said, may have led to Dimitri taking his life. “I don’t know why he would take his life. He was loved by everyone, him harty and strong but I know he had some problems in his relationship and other problems I cannot talk about. Mi know the history,” he said.It was also revealed that the day before Dimitri Hunter  took his life,  he and his girlfriend had a dispute. A family member says Hunter did not live at the woman’s house but visited frequently. It is said that Hunter had clothes and other items at the girlfriend’s house.A source told the Times that Hunter and his girlfriend had a lot of internal conflicts. The source says Hunter wanted children but there were several issues and this triggered problems and caused him to become highly stressed. Hunter did not have any children.  It was also revealed that Hunter was conducting transactions to work on the Canadian Farm Work programme. Family members say Hunter did small crop farming, sold produce and also eggs. “Is a good yute. Mi know him good cause is me him live wid in Moneague but I work out of the area,” the uncle said.
