Man stabbed to death in Ocho Rios

Investigators are still trying to piece together the puzzle behind the stabbing death of a man in Ocho Rios, St Ann early Saturday morning.

Dead is 31-year-old Albert Bembridge of Falcon Crest, Ocho Rios and Tawes Pen, St. Catherine.

A release from the Corporate Communications Unit had indicated that Bembridge was “stabbed by a woman on Main Street, Ocho Rios.”

However, local police say that he was in a dispute with another man and a woman.

The woman is said to have been a prostitute.

The release further stated that: “Reports from the Ocho Rios Police are that about 1:45 a.m., Bembridge got in a dispute with a woman and was stabbed with a knife.”

“He ran to a nearby gas station where he collapsed and was assisted to hospital by a Police Operational Support Team (OST). He was pronounced dead at hospital,” the release continued.

Information to The Times is that the incident occurred at Short Lane in Ocho Rios. Reports are that there was a dispute over money in a sexual transaction.

When The Times contacted head of crime for St Ann, deputy superintendent Richard Hilton, he said two persons were in custody.

However, he could not confirm if it was a woman who stabbed Bembridge and the motive behind the killing.
