CONCERNS AGAIN OVER RAFTING OPERATIONS

A man was shot and seriously wounded at White River, near Ocho Rios, St Ann, Monday morning, August 26.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that there was a dispute between two men near the rafting area at the mouth of the White River, on the St Ann/St Mary border. The dispute escalated and one of the men pulled a gun and shot the other in the face.
The wounded man was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital. Details of his condition were not available at mid-day Monday.
There are again concerns about the White River rafting operations which were closed down last year over violence and reports of extortion. Tourism agency, Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) has been monitoring the operations.
