A well respected man of faith, Collin Collins Corrodus was laid to rest on Thursday, February 9.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Ocho Rios Baptist Church to celebrate the life of a stalwart.

Several dignitaries were in attendance. Condolences were expressed to the family by custos of St Ann, Norma Walters; custos of St James, Ewen George Corrodus (brother); and also by pastor Karl Archer of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Corrodus not only served as a Justice of the peace (JP) but as a brother, husband, father, grandfather and businessman.

Corrodus who had recommitted his life by baptism only a few months ago was remembered by his family for his resilience and beaming personality.

His daughter Gillian recalled that he was “the strength of the family” but not just to those “biologically connected”. She said several persons who came to know of him gravitated towards him because of the type of person he was. She also spoke about his service to his community and his selflessness. The way in which he nurtured and mentored persons was also highlighted during the service. It was said that Corrodus’ good traits were some that were present even during his childhood.

To his family they have lost a “tower of strength” but they know that the legacy of Corrodus will live on.

The Eulogy was read by Corrodus’ daughter, Susan. Other family members who took part in the program included daughter, Dionne; grandsons Daniel Weekes, Jordan Markland, Michael and Mikel Corrodus and nephew, Paul.

After the service, the procession was led to the Ocho Rios Cemetery which is the final resting place for the late Collin Collins Corrodus.

The officiating ministers of the ceremony were pastors Karl Archer, Dudley Hosin, Glen O Samuels, Devon Heath, K.C. Henry, Dr Fontley Corrodus and Elder Azariah Jarrett.

Eighty-one-years-old Corrodus was murdered at his home in early December while he had friends over for a game of dominoes. Police have so far not charged anyone for the murder.
