1ST VICTIM WAS MURDER ACCUSED
A man was shot and killed in Gully Road, St Ann’s Bay Monday afternoon, January 8, marking the first murder in St Ann for 2023.
Dead is 36-year-old Duwayne Clarke, also called Zanu, of Top Road, St Ann’s Bay. Clarke is unemployed and was said to be out on bail on a murder charge dating back to 2020. Police sources said he had several run-ins with law enforcement.
Reports are that Clarke was walking along the roadway, just outside of St Ann’s Bay proper, when a car approached with two men. One of them alighted from the car and opened fire at Clarke. He was hit several times. Clarke was pronounced dead at the nearby St Ann’s Bay hospital.
Toward the end of last year, there were three murders on Gully Road. More than 70 people were murdered in St Ann in 2023.
