THIRD TRAFFIC DEATH IN THE PARISH IN 2 WEEKS
BOSCOBEL, St Mary; May 15, 2026
A man was hit down and killed along the Huddersfield Main Road, St Mary, on Thursday evening, May 14, 2026.
Dead is 28-year-old Oneil Tavares, otherwise called “Philly,” unemployed of Rio Nuevo, St. Mary.
This is the third road traffic death in St Mary in the last two weeks.
Reports are that about 8:45 p.m., Mr. Tavares was walking along the roadway when he reportedly stepped into the path of a Toyota Hiace motor truck traveling west along the Huddersfield Main Road.
He sustained severe injuries and was taken to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The St. Mary Police are appealing to motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution while using the nation’s roadways.
