MAN FATALLY SHOT BY POLICE IN ANNOTTO BAY

COPS SAY HE POINTED GUN AT THEM, FIREARM SEIZED

ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary; Dec. 16., 2025

A man was fatally shot by the police, and a firearm was reportedly seized,  in Annotto Bay, on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Dead is 37-year-old construction worker, Nickel DeSouza, otherwise called “Odane.”

According to the police, reports indicate that about 9:18 p.m. Monday, police personnel were on patrol on the Annotto Bay Main Road when they engaged a man who behaved in a manner that aroused suspicion. During the interaction, the man reportedly produced a firearm and pointed it in the direction of the police. An officer responded by discharging his weapon, resulting in the man being wounded.

The wounded man was transported to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Nickel DeSouza, otherwise called “Odane,” a 37-year-old construction worker.

Police said a black and silver single-action 9mm pistol with a magazine affixed containing twelve 9mm rounds of ammunition was recovered at the scene.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) was notified of the incident. Investigations continue.
