72-Year-Old Beaten After Attacking Sister
Linette Brady – slain
A 72- year-old man has been charged with the murder of his 57-year-old sister in St Ann, following a dispute over land.
Charged with murder is Stanley Brady, an electrician of Garvey Meade, St. Catherine.
Dead is his sister Linette Brady, also called Sonia, of Thicketts district, Discovery Bay in the parish.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that Stanley came to the community, having heard that a family member was building on family land over which he has established a claim. There was a quarrel with his sister and about 3 p.m. Saturday, he attacked her at her house in Thicketts.
Police report that Stanley inflicted several chop wounds to his sister’s body. She managed to escape and ran to her neighbour’s house, where she collapsed.
Members of the community attacked Stanley, who was rescued by the police. Both injured persons were assisted to the hospital, where Linette was pronounced dead and Stanley treated.
On Thursday, August 17 Stanley was charged after a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney.
Up to Friday evening, August 18 he was still in hospital under police guard.
A court date for him is being finalised.
