The Ocho Rios Police have charged a man in connection with the fatal stabbing of another along DaCosta Drive in the resort town on Monday, February 23. Charged with the murder of 31-year-old construction worker Richard Lester Williams, of Friendship Housing Scheme in Kitson Town, St Catherine, is 54-year-old Cleve Sutherland. Sutherland is expected to appear in the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday, March 10. Williams was stabbed to death after an argument developed between him and Sutherland. It is alleged that Williams had gone to have a bath at a popular swimming hole next to Turtle River Park, across from Crane Ridge when there was a dispute about money and other items Williams said was missing from his clothes that he had left by the river bank. It is alleged that Sutherland used a knife to stab Williams in the neck, killing him. Police were quickly alerted by someone at the scene who ran to the nearby station. Police made the arrest and found the murder weapon. In the meantime, the Ocho Rios police are appealing to the family of Williams to contact the police in order to identify his body. Investigating officer at the Ocho Rios Criminal Investigation Brach (CIB) Sergeant Kirk Nichols says no one has contacted the police in relation to Williams. Police say Williams lived in Kitson Town, St Catherine but temporarily relocated to Ocho Rios in order to work at the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande construction site. He is appealing to the family members to contact the Ocho Rios CIB or police 911 number.
