Man charged in murder of CASE lecturer

Cops crack CASE lecturer murder

Police have charged a Kingston man for the murder of 44-year-old CASE lecturer Cyprian Moncrieffe. He is 29-year-old Julian Williams of Pesham Avenue, Vineyard Town Kingston. Williams was held in St James earlier this month where reports are that he had “gone on a mission”. Police would give no details of the arrest but said Williams and another man were implicated in the murder of the college lecturer. Cops are holding the other man in Kingston. The North Coast Times last weak broke the story of the breakthrough in the murder. It was confirmed by DSP Jervis Moore, head of crime at Area 2. Moncrieffewas found brutally murdered in his bed, Monday, September 9 last year, at the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE) at Passley Gardens, in Portland. Reports are that Williams and another man had been in the company of Moncreiffe over the weekend before Moncrieffe was found dead. It has already been established that security at the college gate was compromised so a definite time that the men came and went could not be determined. Police say they have information that placed Williams in Moncrieffe’s flat. MrMoncrieffewas found dead near mid-day, in a flat where he lived alone, on the campus of CASE. Police found his body in his bed with two knives stuck in the back of his head. The savagery of the attack led police to suspect what they called a “crime of passion”. They claimed that Moncrieffe’s killer might have known him as there was no forced entry to the flat. A lap top and his Honda CRV motor vehicle were taken but police said it was obviously not intended as a robbery as several valuable items were left untouched. Police said he had last been seen Friday, September 6.
