MAN CHARGED IN $13-M ST ANN’S BAY STORE ROBBERY

CASH, PHONES, CHEQUES STOLEN ON MAIN STREET

One man has been charged for involvement in a $13-million dollar robbery at a furniture story in St Ann’s Bay.

The shop breaking and robbery involved $8 million in cash, local and US dollar cheques and cell phones. The incident took place on Main Street, St Ann’s Bay, St Ann on Friday, October 27.

Charged with shop breaking and larceny is 45-year-old Sutcliffe Davy, otherwise called ‘Puss’, of Back Street, Salem, St. Ann.

Reports are that the complainant securely locked up his place of business and went home on Friday. The following morning, when he returned to his business place, he discovered that culprits had gained access, ransacked the store, and stole a safe that contained cash of J$8,000,000 (J$8-M). Also discovered stolen were:  a cheque valued at US$3480 (J$522,000), local cheques valued at J$3,649,879, and forty (40) assorted cell phones valued at J$820,000.

The CCTV was then viewed, and Davy was seen with another man removing the items.

Davy was charged after an interview. Police are searching for the other man who also broke into the store.

His court date is being finalised.
