LP MARTIN FUNERAL HOME IS TITLE SPONSOR OF ST MARY CRICKET

ELITE 35-OVER COMPETITION STARTS SUNDAY WITH COSTLEY CONSTRUCTION ALSO A SPONSOR

L P Martin Funeral Home is the title sponsor of the new St. Mary Cricket Association Elite 35 Cricket Competition slated to bowl off on Sunday, September 29. The competition will also have Costley Constriction as another main sponsor.

Eight teams are contesting the 35-over-a-side competition that will be played at four venues across the parish.

Zachary Irwin, executive chairman of LP Martin Funeral Home, speaking at the competition’s official launch recently, said his organization considered their sponsorship as an investment in St. Mary’s cricket and a continuation of their partnership with the stakeholders in the parish and across Jamaica.

“The St. Mary Cricket Association is not just a sports organization, it’s a pillar of our community fostering discipline and sportsmanship among our youth. By investing in this Association we are not only nurturing the talent of the young cricketers but also instilling in them the value of teamwork, perseverance, and dedication,” Mr. Irwin said. “Our support goes beyond the boundaries of the cricket field, it extends to the fabric of our community, recognizing the importance of giving back,” he said

Junior Mattison, first vice president of the St. Mary Cricket Association lauded the title sponsors for their commitment to cricket in the parish. He said LP Martin Funeral Home has been a supporter of cricket in the parish over the years and it was great to see them coming back into the fold in such a tangible way. Mattison also hailed Costley Construction for their continued sponsorship and investment in the parish.

Mr. Mattison said the players in the parish were looking forward to participating in the competition over the next few weeks and he expected the matches to be keenly contested.

Eight teams: Gayle, Boscobel, Jack’s River, Hamilton Mountain, Geddes Town, Mango Valley, High Gate and Bonnie Gate will take part in the competition.

Sheldon Pryce Captain of Gayle, the Social Development Commission parish champions, said his team was pleased to be a part of the competition and was ready and raring to go.

Sandals Royal Plantation and Sandals Dunn’s River are associate sponsors of the competition.
