LOCAL FISHERMEN BRING IN BIG CATCH

INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT STARTS

 

Nature Boy with captain Andrew Peat won the 39th local Port Antonio canoe tournament that kicked off Tuesday morning, ahead of the 60th  Henry Morgan Marlin Tournament.

Fifty-one (51) local fishermen participated and Nature Boy landed two marlin – one weighing 119 pounds and the other 181 pounds.

Fifteen-year-old Captain Johnay Donald, from Oracabesa, St Mary, landed a 149-pound Marlin.

Kayli TK landed a 130-pound with Captain Joseph to round off the top three.

Mannawah landed a 121-pound marlin and High Tide 116-pound.

The canoe tournament does not have a weight and size limit for Marlins landed.

The well-established Port Antonio International Marlin tournament started on Thursday, October 19, with 15 boats registered, following the exploits of the local fishermen.

Custos of Portland Lincoln Thaxter represented the Governor General who was scheduled to be present and declared the tournament open.

The tournament is taking place at the Ole Marina

Before noon, defending champion ‘Integrity’ started well and released a marlin and 2 Cantankerous also released one. The completion ends on Saturday.
