Life in the Word Bible Teachers’ International, located at 10 James Avenue, Ocho Rios, St Ann, staged an exciting and thought provoking three-day revival last week. The revival ceremony which began on Monday, September 8 and ended on Wednesday, saw gospel sensation, Omari belting out his popular hits such as ‘Help’ and ‘Jehovah’ as members of the congregation looked on. The ministry’s in-house music group, the Life Gospel Band also led the church into a riveting worship session which had the congregation singing, jumping and praising God.
The revival was dubbed ‘The Rise of the Church’. United States preacher, Dr Mary Banks was the main speaker for the three nights. The US preacher, who now resides in Jamaica, while delivering her message urged the congregation to affirm their beliefs in the church and walk according to what the Bible declares. “We teach an unfamiliar Word that urges people to live in holiness and righteousness before God, but this is the way we ought to live. This message is not preached at a regular crusade,” Dr Banks preached. One church member, described the message delivered by Dr Banks as “solid and thought provoking.”
Life in the Word was also joined by people who travelled from associate ministries in Kingston to hear Dr Banks. Head of Life in the Word, Bishop Bryan Ffrench said the ministry is embarking on new events and the revival was a kick-off for what is to come. “We are doing a lot of things here and the revival is just one of the things that we use as a medium to further shepherd people into the Kingdom of God.” He added that the church is set to launch a massive gospel concert in the upcoming year, 2015. “We want to make a huge difference, especially in the Ocho Rios community and we intend to stage a gospel concert which will attract hundreds of people. People should get ready,” Bishop Ffrench said.
