TOP STUDENTS AWARDED FOR PERFORMANCE IN PEP
RICH PERFORMING ARTS ACHIEVEMENTS ALSO HIGHLIGHTED
Thirty-three (33) students graduated from Liberty Learning Centre, Tower Isle, and have been placed to commence secondary education at high schools across the country in September. `
The graduation was a ceremony of celebration with the students spectacularly displaying skills in music, dance and singing. There were prizes for excellent academic performance as well as in sports and other extracurricular activities. Scores of parents and guardians, relatives and friends were on hand to applaud and celebrate their children.

The theme of the event was “Nobody Like You Lord”. It was held at the Ocho Rios Baptist Church, St Ann, on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Student of the Year Was Rhea Clarke. The most outstanding PEP student was Marcus Mullings who was also OVERALL STUDENT OF THE YEAR.

In the ceremony, Principal Rosemarie Brent-Harris emphasized the school’s embrace of excellence and highlighted that the students were particularly talented.

In giving the report for the Academic Year 2023-24, Mrs Brent Harris mentioned work at the school and the focus each month, from September 2023 through to graduation. The events included Heritage Day, Mr and Miss Liberty Pageant, teacher empowerment seminars, the Tenth Anniversary celebrations in January, the PEP examinations in Term Two and April as well as Child’s Month celebration in May.
Commenting on the strong programme of extracurricular activities and the engagement of students in them, the Principal mentioned the Evening of Excellence in June which showcased high-performance cultural items. She reported that Liberty Learning Centre was recognized as the Top Performing Arts School in St Mary, by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

For this academic year, the school won 17 gold, 14 silver and six bronze medals plus four certificates of merit. The school also won many national awards in dance, music and speech.
She also highlighted the performance in the Keller Williams Football competition with the team being one of the finalists scheduled for Sunday June 30, 2024.

Mrs. Brent Harris thanked sponsors, school staff and students for their participation in the JISA Prep School Championships at the National Stadium. Liberty Learning Centre placed 25th from a field of 45 entrants.

Mrs Brent Harris also thanked the academic and ancillary staff for their contribution to a successful year in which the “Midas touch” was seen in many activities. She thanked the parents for sticking by their children and the school throughout the year.
Several students won awards for their performance in the PEP examinations.

Language Arts: Aiden Robinson, Marcus Mullings and Nathaniel Shelton
Social Studies: Marcus Mullings, Aiden Robinson, Nathaniel Shelton, Makayla Garel Nylah Phipps and Joel Rigg
The student of the year, female was Makayla Garel
The student of the year male was Marcus Mullings
Overall student of the year was Marcus Mullings
Two awards were given for Academic Advancement. They were given to students who made significant academic studies and were awarded their first choices.

The School Spirit Award was won by Nylah Phipps.
The Nathan Stanley Award for Excellence in Spelling and Vocabulary was given for the first time in the history of the school. The award was made possible by an outstanding past student, Nathan Stanley who now attends Ardenne High School. The recipient was Makayla Garel
