Lennon clip Port Antonio 2-1

Lennon High School with a brace from Kwesi Watts clipped Port Antonio High gaining valuable first leg edge in the second round of the ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup game at Lynch Park Saturday afternoon, October 14.

Goals were scored by Lennon’s Kwesi Watts 4th (penalty) 94th as Alex Duncan 66th replied for Port Antonio.

The game started in a slight drizzle as Lennon started out attacking and Port Antonio defender Lenroy Anderson committed an infringement inside his penalty area hat led to the penalty being given by referee Gawayne Scott.

Kwesi Watts calmly spotted the ball and kicked pass custodian Thomas Williams, for a one-nil lead in the fourth minute.

Lennon launched a number of attacks keeping Dale Boucher and Lenroy Anderson busy in the Port Antonio defense. .

Port Antonio countered at times through Andrew Layne, Dwayne Hylton, Zedon Cataroo and Adrian Green but were not able to penetrate the Lennon defense as the half ended with Lennon leading one goal to nil.

Port Antonio got the equaliser from a good build up as Dale Boucher broke up the Lennon attack and passed to substitute Oshawny Jackson, Dwayne Hylton, Andrew Layne down the right flank as he squared, across goal to substitute Alex Duncan who fired pass custodian Tyrone Mullings in the sixty sixth minute ,leveling the score one goal each.

Port Antonio continued to launch a number of attacks  and Lennon lost Leonard Jibbison for his second caution in quick succession as Lennon were reduced to ten players. Port Antonio tried to push home the advantage and was caught on the counter in added time. Jason Johnson made a long pass up to Kwesi Watts and he beat defender Okeito James and advancing custodian Thomas Williams. Lennon took the first round 2-1, away.
