LATEST POLL SAYS JLP WILL WIN LOCAL ELECTIONS

ST ANN, PORTLAND JLP TO WIN; ST MARY FOR PNP WIN — POLL

Poll results conducted by Blue Dot for  Nationwide Radio suggest that the Jamaica Labour Party will win the Local Government Elections on February 26.

According to the poll results, the JLP leads in seven parishes, the PNP in four, and two are tied. The polls were conducted from January 19 to February 6, 2024. And have a margin of error of plus or minus 2.25 percent.

The poll results say the JLP leads in two of the Northeast parishes covered by the North Coast Times – St Ann and Portland while the PNP leads in St Mary. In fact, according to the polls, the JLP’s most dominant support is in St Ann, where nearly 70 percent of registered voters say they will vote for the JLP and 28 percent for the PNP.

In initial reactions, canvassed on Nationwide Radio, the General Secretary of the PNP, Dr Dayton Campbell said the Blue Dot poll has a flawed concept indicating parish-wide votes rather than divisions which is what determines who wins a Council. He said the Party’s polling is at variance with the Blue Dot Polls.

JLP Public Relations Officer, Information Minister Robert Morgan said his party was confident, based on its polling. He too said care must be taken in analyzing the poll results along population lines.
