Police are questioning a man for the murder of 52-year-old Ena Murphy Barrette who was shot and killed at her home in Galina, St Mary, last Thursday. Police held the relative of the woman within hours of her death and told the North Coast Times Monday that questioning is continuing.
The police could not confirm reports to The Times that the home was fitted with cameras that could help identify Mrs Berrette’s killers. Also, police did not comment on reports that her handbag and telephone were missing from her on which the engine was left running, as she walked to lock her gate. However they do not believe that the motive for her death was robbery. A senior officer said the fact that the car could have been easily driven away and was not or the men could have entered the house and did not suggested robbery could be ruled out.
