CARLTON RICKETTS, JLP

DRY HABOUR DIVISION, St Ann Municipal Corporation

Carlton Ricketts says he is ready for the Local Government Elections because he has put in the work. He is seeking to, again, represent Dry Harbour Division in the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC)

Mr Ricketts says his work as a Councillor, since 2016, is a sterling one that has brought many benefits to the people of the Division. He says he is seeking the vote of the people to return him as Councillor so he can complete some of his projects.

“I am ready for the Elections because I have put in the work,” Mr Ricketts says. “But I have some projects still to complete.”

He has a long list of projects including parochial roads patched or rehabilitated; more than 200 new street lamps repaired or newly installed; seven bus stops erected across the division, others in construction and many wayside tanks repaired and water systems provided to areas that never before had running water.

Mr Ricketts says he’s particularly proud of his work with the young people, more than 100 of whom he helped get summer jobs.

Work with young people includes providing balls, and gear for sports activities and competitions; rehabilitating the Discovery Bay playfield, fencing of Farm Town playfield, and putting in a stand at Dunbarton playfield.

He says over the last few years he has been able to provide vouchers amounting to more than $2 million a year for back to school, with the help of local businesses and the Ministry of Local Government.

“I am standing on the work that I have done and seeking the people’s vote to continue that work. Vote for me, vote for the JLP to continue the work,” Mr Ricketts said.

PHILPOTT MITCHELL, PNP

DRY HARBOUR DIVISION, St Ann Municipal Corporation

Philpott Mitchell is a well-known businessman with a driving passion for helping people.

He says that’s why he has entered politics to represent the people of the Dry Harbour Division in the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC). “I’m seeking to help build and develop the Dry Harbour Division. That is socially, economically, and physically,” Mr Mitchell says.

Mr Mitchell says he knows the division well, from the larger, well-known communities like Discovery Bay and Dumbarton, to more rural areas like Thickets, Brown Piece and Keith. He says he wants to help build them all.

Mr Mitchell says high on his priority list, if elected Councillor, are:

  1. Infrastructure and Development:

The community deserves sustainable growth. I will work towards infrastructure improvements, ensuring our roads and public spaces meet the evolving needs of our residents. A thriving community is built on the foundation of well-planned development.

  1. Education and Youth Empowerment:

Investing in our youth is an investment in our future. I will advocate for educational programs, extracurricular activities, and mentorship opportunities that empower our young citizens to reach their fullest potential to be able to secure jobs and improve the socio-economic conditions of their families

  1. Environmental Stewardship:

A commitment to environmental sustainability is crucial. I will support all initiatives that protect our natural resources, promote recycling programs, and contribute to a cleaner, greener Dry Habour.

  1. Safety and Well-being: Public safety is paramount. I will collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations to implement strategies that ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
