Kerisha Simpson has done it again, hosting another back-to- school treat for children from the Discovery Bay area.
Dozens of children gathered outside Kerisha’s Bar, across from the sea, at Old Folly, west of Discovery Bay.
The children, ranging in age from those at early childhood institutions up to high school, sang, chatted and danced, all in order at the treat Wednesday afternoon, April 16. It was the fifth year that Ms Simpson has hosted the treat.
Kerisha, well respected and referred to as Mamma, was supported by many mature adults from the area who saw to the orderly conduct of the event and the serving of meals and handing out of stationery to students
Evelyn Walford, a long time supporter of the treat, gave the prayer and, with others, started the children in lively Sunday/Sabbath School choruses
Music was provided by one of the sponsors Touch International, led by Pang.
The children, some of whom attended in their school uniforms, were provided with cooked meals, drinks, ice cream and snacks and given books, pencils and pens.
Miss Simpson told The Times that most of those at the treat were from the Old Folly Area of Discovery Bay. “Some of the children come from as far as Dunbarton. They have been coming for years and we appreciate the support. I want to thank all our sponsors.”
