JUNCTION ROAD TO CLOSE SUNDAY MORNING

CLOSURE TO ALLOW FOR REMOVAL OF TRUCK FROM GULLY

AGUALTA VALE, St Mary; May 8, 2026

The Junction Road, St Mary, is to be closed on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

The main road between Agualta Vale and Toms River, St. Mary, is to be closed on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

The road through the Junction will be closed between  6:00 a.m. and 12 noon.

The National Works Agency says that the closure is necessary to allow for the safe removal of a truck. The truck, which was carrying oil, veered off the road on Wednesday and is now lodged in a gully.

Manager of Customer Service NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that the Agency has permitted Tonker Trucking and Equipment Limited to remove the ill-fated truck from the gully. As a condition of the approval, the company has been mandated to have relevant signs erected strategically at the Robert

Schuman Roundabout (near Annotto Bay) and the intersection of the Westmoreland Bridge at Chovey in St. Mary. Signs are also to be placed at Temple Hall and Stony Hill, St. Andrew.

Persons wishing to travel to and from some communities in St. Mary and Portland towards Kingston and St. Andrew are being advised to plan their schedule around the closure. They may also use an alternative route.
