NEWEST FRANCHISE WITH FULL MENU IN GREAT LOCATION

MAMMEE BAY, St Ann; June 16, 2025

The newest Juici Patties franchise in Jamaica, at Drax Hall, St Ann, has been officially opened with expressions of hope as well as assurances for success.

The formal grand opening event, upbeat and full of fun, was carried as an Irie FM outside broadcast. It was highlighted by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Boots Plaza, near Mammee Bay.

GOOD TO GO: Opened with love and good vibes

Heading the guest list was Custos of St Ann, Joseph Issa, and officials from the parent company, Juici Patties. They included Alyssa Chin, Director of Juici Patties; Edridge Darling, Daniel Lowe, Kellon Williams and Camesha Walters.

The ceremony, attended by dozens of people, including local entrepreneurs, patrons, and Juici franchise holders, took place without any interruption in the service of the restaurant during the busy lunch period, starting at 12:30.

Following prayers by Nigel Thomas, emcee Nicholas Evans of Irie FM, welcomed the Juici store as a great addition to the booming Drax Hall commercial and residential strip and praised the operators, Shermaine Desnoes and Glen O’Connor, for the venture. He said the Drax Hall Juici Patties restaurant was one of the best in the Juici chain.

Custos Joseph Issa praised Jukie and Edith Chin, owners of Juici Patties, for the growth in their business that now boasts more than 70 stores. He said in the development of the business and the franchising, they had shown “kindness in wanting to see others succeed.”

Mr Issa also encouraged the young entrepreneurs, Desnoes and O’Connor, and asked them to do as much as they could to help Jamaica.  He said he was sure the venture would be successful. “You are with a good brand and a good partner,” Custos Issa assured them.

Shermaine Desnoes, responding for herself and her husband and business partner, Glen O’Connor, said operating a restaurant was a dream they both had for a long time. She said it was hard work getting the business going, but they were supported by Juici Patties headquarters, suppliers, family members and friends. She thanked all those who assisted in making the store a reality. Ms Desnoes also had special thanks for the staff, pointing out that several of them who wanted to take part in the opening festivities were at the very moment at work, serving customers.

Mr O’Connor said he was grateful that the business was up and running and thanked all those who helped, and the community, for their support, since the store opened in March, 2025.

Juici Patties Drax Hall is open daily from 6:30 a.m. closing at 8:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, closing time is 10 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Alongside Juici’s standard menu options, the location will also feature a special Nugget combo and a Chicken sandwich offering.

Fried chicken, curry chicken, baked and jerk chicken, stew peas and brown stewed fish are available all day. Red peas soup, with or without beef, is also available, as well as classic chicken soup.

One of the products and services they are most proud of is their frozen patties, in demand by people travelling overseas. Jamaicans headed to the airport and who are taking their patties for relatives and friends can call ahead, make their orders or just go in and pick up beef, chicken and vegetable patties from the refrigerator out front in the shop. The store also offers cocktail patties on wholesale.

The ribbon across the front door of the store was cut to symbolically mark the opening by Raina O’Connor, daughter of Shermaine Desnoes and Glen O’Connor, with the assistance of Custos Joseph Issa. It was witnessed by Alyssa Chin and Kellon Williams of Juici Patties headquarters, family members of the franchise holders, including Maureen Singh, Shermaine Desnoes’ mother, and Elaine O’Connor, Glen O’Connor’s mother; as well as friends, customers and members of the St Ann business community.

The location of the store, close to the north exit/entrance of the Edward Seaga Highway and at a plaza with ample parking, is considered a big asset. Its drive-through facility is expected to be open within weeks.
