It has been over five years, and the tour bus operator charged for the murder of his girlfriend has not yet settled his legal representation.
Kevin Peterkin is the man charged for the murder of his 22-year-old common-law-wife, Sasha Edwards, of Milford Road in Ocho Rios.
Peterkin’s matter is one of those traversed from last term’s sitting of the Circuit. At that time, there were also matters arising regarding Peterkin’s representation.
When Peterkin appeared before high court judge Georgiana Fraser in the St Ann Circuit Court on Monday, January 30, the issue was the same. Peterkin still needed to settle his legal representation and claims he needs two weeks to ‘finish’ doing so.
He was warned by Mrs Justice Fraser to make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible. She also questioned the number of times Peterkin has been in Circuit without an attorney. Additionally, Justice Fraser made Peterkin aware that the court will “not wait forever” for him to sort out his issues.
Peterkin’s bail was extended and he is set to return to court on February 8, when he will be expected to appear with an attorney.
Reports are that on June 22, 2011 Edwards, was stabbed to death during a fight with Peterkin at the house where they both lived at the time, in Milford. The fight was said to have been over an alleged affair between Peterkin and Edward’s cousin.
During the Hilary session of the Circuit Court last January it was revealed that it was the mother of Sasha Edwards, who heard screaming and had rushed to the scene of the alleged crime. The mother then saw Peterkin rushing pass her and he reportedly said “Yuh see all you.” He was covered in blood.
Initially, he had legal representation that successfully applied for bail.
