The new Custos for St Ann is to be Joseph ‘Joey’ Issa.
North Coast Times sources say the prominent businessman is to be commissioned next week as the Governor General’s representative in St Ann.
He is to replace Norma Walters who has retired.
Mrs Walters made it known weeks ago she was retiring, having reached the age.
Over the last few months, several senior JPs have acted for Mrs Walters, including Dr Janet Dyer head of Cardiff Hotel and Runaway Bay HEART Academy.
There has been speculation across St Ann about who would be the new Custos. The Times was told that Dyer and Issa were among the early front runners before the decision was made to appoint Issa.
Mr Issa is a well-known philanthropist, contributing time and resources to many social causes in St Ann. He is the founder and chairman of the Cool Group of Companies, following years in the hotel industry where he rose to become Vice President of SuperClubs.
He is married to Asha.
