Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort and Spa did let 2016 slip by without publicly “Recognizing Excellence” but they have made up for it now with a fabulous salute to staff for last year’s work
Appreciation was shown to several of those employees who carried out their duties exceptionally well throughout 2016.
They were acknowledged at the annual staff awards ceremony, held at the hotel, Mammee Bay on Friday, May 12. The ceremony entailed presentation of major and special awards to those employees who stood out among the team.
The categories for which members of staff were awarded included: top wine seller, bartender of the year, chef of the year, special recognition, most exemplary, smile award, most recognized, sales achievement award, guest service award, general manager’s merit award, jewel ambassador award, department of the year, supervisor of the year, manager of the year, vote of thanks, front of the house awards, heart of the house award, most recognized, as well as supervisor and managers of the quarter.
There were three persons awarded for employee of the year. The second runner up is Vanessa Hutchinson; first runner up Rodrick Bambury and the star of the year, Kadre Brown who walked away with the keys to a brand new motor car.
Executive vice president of Sagicor Life Insurance Company, Mark Chisholm, was the guest speaker at the function. He told the staff that “excellence should be a habit, something that you do everyday, as we are what we do.”
He also told them to have good standards and surpass “normal”. In his address he told some of his success stories and challenged the awardees to continue making their mark at the resort.
During the programme, a 2016 year in review was done by hotel manager Alicia Mullings. This highlighted some of the great moments and extraordinary work during that year.
A special item was delivered by the Jewel Dunn’s River choir while general manager, Ann Marie Goffe-Pryce did the opening remarks.The guest speaker was introduced by Velona Whilby and the vote of thanks extended by Mr Jewel 2016, Mohamey McNish, following a presentation by Ms Jewel 2016, Chrystal Moxam .
