Jay Z has released a new song addressing police brutality titled ‘Spiritual’.
The song, released on Tidal, talks about coming up from rag to riches. In the song Jay Z says “I am not poison, just a boy from the hood that got my hands in the air, don’t shoot, I just wanna do good”. The mogul explained the reasoning for the song on Tidal: He said, “I made this song a while ago, I never got to finish it. A friend told me I should drop it when Mike Brown died. Sadly I told him, ‘this issue will always be relevant.’ I’m hurt that I knew his death wouldn’t be the last. I’m saddened and disappointed in this America we should be further along. Blessings to all the families that have lost loved ones to police brutality. Beyonce, Jay’s wife and pop star, also addressed the issue, she said on her site “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us”.
