ISLAND RADIOLOGY’S TENTH ANNIVERSARY DINNER & AWARDS

Island Radiology commemorated its tenth anniversary with a dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday, June 21 at the Club Hotel Riu, under the theme “Celebrating 10 years of providing diagnostic service”. The event was well attended with members of the medical fraternity and well-wishers. Guest speaker Dr Fenton Ferguson, Minister of Health, in bringing greetings, lauded the directors and others who invested in radiology. He said starting that kind of business requires upfront significant capital investment and that Island Radiology not only took that risk but has grown beyond Ocho Rios. In getting to ten years of growth in a difficult time “it shows that something is being done right” he said, adding that Island Radiology offered excellent client care with the use of technology. Member of Parliament for  North East St Ann, Shahine Robinson lauded the team for the level of professionalism displayed over the ten years, and said it created a friendly ambiance and jobs for the residents of St. Ann.  She reminded those attending the ceremony of how difficult it was for persons who required diagnostic services to get it before Island Radiology’s existence. Persons had to commute to Kingston and Montego Bay, she explained. Oral Heaven, President of the Chamber of Commerce St. Ann Chapter brought greeting on behalf of the business community. He said the parish is pleased. “Good things came out of St. Ann, the home of Island Radiology,” he said.Mayor of St Ann’s Bay Desmond Gilmore commended the team for their ten years of unwavering service which earned the respect of the clients. Custos Norma Walters also brought greetings. Seven persons got award in various categories. Milton “Ruddy” Haughton was awarded for ten years of dedicated service; Chellie-Ann Walker for excellent customer service skills; Stephen Jennings for contribution to Information technology and Barbara Bernard office supervisor for her dedicated years of service. Alva Jackson who was their first patient ten years ago was also recognized. Island Radiology presented the St. Ann’s Bay and Port Maria Hospitals with computer systems, as it moves away from the use of films. The evening’s chair person was the vivacious Pauline Haughton business woman and past president of the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce.
