It’s not only business people who are complaining in Highgate, St Mary about how ugly and dirty the little town that was once the pride of St Mary has become. A big part of the problem is that the Highgate Market no longer works or is no longer used by but three or four vendors. Yet dozens of vendors are on the streets of the town. The congestion is worsened because there is nowhere for shoppers or public passenger vehicles to park except on the narrow Main Street. Two sides of the road parking is now allowed or overlooked by police. In these pictures, a section of the empty market is shown while a crowded sidewalk with vendors items displayed is across from the market. The clock tower is unsightly and without any time device. making it all seem the town is stuck.
