POLICE REPORT STILL NOT IN 24 HOURS LATER
Andrene Gordon
Heather Stennett
Two women from the Discovery Bay area were killed in a traffic crash early Saturday afternoon, as they journeyed to a funeral in the neighbouring parish of Trelawny.
Dead are 25-year-old Andrene Gordon, bartender of Top Bay and 39-year-old Heather Stennett, both of Discovery Bay, St Ann.
Five people were hospitalised, one in serious condition.
The grief in the Discovery Bay community was compounded by the fact that people from the area were preparing to go on Sunday, November 12, to the funeral service of nine-year-old Taliyah Thompson who was raped and killed in Discovery Bay, in September.
Reports are that about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, the two women were travelling in a Toyota Isis going east toward Duncans when the vehicle hit a Kia motorcar and then hit another car, also a Kia, before running off the road near the gate of Melia Braco just west of the St Ann/Trelawny Border. The vehicles were extensively damaged.
Further reports are that five others were injured and taken to hospital.
Police have been contacted several times by the North Coast Times but up to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 12, they were unable to provide a detailed report about how the crash happened or the identities of the women killed.
