Hundreds of schoolchildren from across Jamaica turned out Thursday, November 10 at Minard, St Ann for the 21st staging of the Livestock Show and Beef Festival.
The show and festival carried a range of activities from livestock parade through displays of various menu with beef at the centre, as well as sessions of information about livestock, feeds and supplies. Many students won prizes of goats, rabbits, calves and feeds.
The importance of the livestock sector for food security or for Jamaica to become self-sufficient in meat and milk was highlighted in several of the speeches at the formal part of the programme.
Chairman of the committee for the show Edwin Gayle said the show was a success and the attendance and participation of students was particularly pleasing.
