Hundreds Of Teachers Just Had Fun

SANDALS FETES TEACHERS AT PEARLY BEACH

Teachers tied each other. Teachers ran barefooted through the sand. Teachers chanted and fell back and chanted in the Jamaican language. And, there was of course the dancing, with ancient and modern moves.

It was all part of a fun day that included three-legged races, bun eating contest, team chants to impromptu lyrics, and much more.

More than 350 teachers from schools across St Ann and St Mary turned out for a special celebration of Teachers Day, put on by Sandals and Beaches Resorts at Pearly Beach on Wednesday, May 10.

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) and the North Eastern Regional Health Authority partnered with Sandals/Beaches for the event.

Refreshment was available all day and there was a sumptuous buffet with a variety of meats, rice in various styles, festival and vegetables. There were many compliments too about the range of desserts.

The Sandals entertainment team led the teachers in various activities including three-legged races, team chants and dance contests  and other games on the beach. Several teachers won various prizes including stays at the resort chain’s facilities.

Many teachers expressed gratitude for the gesture and remarked on the quality of the facilities and the programme prepared for the guests.

Leading the Sandals team in the day’s events was Lyndsay Isaacs, regional public relations manager.
