Minister of National Security, Robert Montague has renewed his appeal to residents of St Mary to assist police investigators with any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for the murders of two missionaries in the parish.Montague made the appeal at a memorial service held at the Boscobel United Church on Saturday, May 21, that saw hundreds of mourners from Boscobel and across St Mary paying their final respects to the lives of the two American missionaries who were killed in Wentworth, near Albion Mountain in St Mary, on Saturday, April 30.Randy Hentzel, 48, was found with a gunshot wound to the mouth and his hands bound behind him in bushes on Saturday, April 30 in Albion Mountain.His team member, Harold Nichols, was found on Sunday afternoon, May 1 in a pool of water in bushes. A post mortem report later confirmed that he was shot and chopped.The men were remembered for their kindness and their commitment in building homes for those less fortunate persons in St Mary through their TEAMS for medical missions outreach group.Several officials including the US ambassador to Jamaica, Luis Moreno and 22 church leaders were among those in attendance at the memorial service.While pledging that the criminals will be brought to justice for the murder of the missionaries, Montague urged the residents to “help the police with any information no matter how small it is,” and not to take the law into their own hands.He also called on the killers of the missionaries to turn themselves over to police. Among others paying tribute were: councillor for the Boscobel division, Fitzroy Wilson; the St Mary Minister’s Fraternal; John Heater, director of TEAMS for medical missions; Boscobel Bible Fellowship and Richmond New Testament Church of God.The eulogy of Harold Nichols was read by custos of St Mary, Errol Johnson, while Bishop Michael McGregor read the eulogy of Randy Hentzel.A powerful eulogy was later delivered by Reverend Henroy Samuels. The memorial service was moderated by Reverend Claude Williams.The bodies of the missionaries have been returned to the United States where Hentzel’s body was buried, while the body of Harold Nichols will be cremated at a later date.
