Herman Grant installed as Ocho Rios Kiwanis President

The Kiwanis Club of Ocho Rios Division 24-Jamaica Northeast, held its  48th Installation Dinner and Awards Ceremony, on Saturday evening, October 11 at Almond Tree Restaurant, Ocho Rios, St Ann and presented its top award to a well known entertainer.

Master of ceremonies was distinguished president Ian Boyd-Brown and among the audience were Custos Norma Walters, former Custos Radcliffe Walters and Kiwanians from various clubs.

After a call to order and the singing of the Anthem the objectives of Kiwanis International were highlighted by director Andrew Fraser followed by the invocation by past president Carlton Mullings before other preliminaries by immediate past president Luke Thomas-Shorter.

 

President elect Ricardo Moncrieffe gave a toast followed by Mr Shorter’s review of the year. Mr Shorter noted that under his leadership the club had been transformed from being an all-male club into a unisex club, and met its planned significant targets in inter-clubbing.

Custos Norma Walters and trustee Angela Strudwick gave greetings.

Well known presenter and Jazz musician Myrna Hague-Bradshaw was presented with the Citizen Of The Year award followed by the Terrific Kid award presented to Abigail Mattis. Other awards were as follows: Long Dedicated Service,  to director Andre Fraser, Kiwanian of the Year award presented to Herman E. Grant and President Leadership award presented to IPP Luke Thomas-Shorter. The new executive body was made known and its members handed certificates.

The introduction of the Lieutenant Governor LG Dawn-Marie Richards was done by IPLG Nellie Seivwright.

Installation of President Herman E. Grant was done by LG Dawn-Marie Richards. Mr Grant thanked the outgoing president and said “My dream this year is to give lots of love.”

Garnett Spencer gave the vote of thanks.
