THEY BEAT PORTLAND HIGH 3-1 IN FINAL
The champion of schoolgirl football in Portland is Happy Grove High School.
They beat Port Antonio High by three goals to one (3-1) at Carder Park in the parish capital Thursday, April 27, to lift the Portland FA Ann-Marie Vaz Women’s League Trophy.
A large crowd turned out for an exciting match that followed a very hectic season.
Happy Grove and Port Antonio High were both first-time entrants in the league and moved to the -finals after winning their two-round Semi-final games.
Port Antonio High stopped Buff Bay High 3-0, and thereby overturned a 2-0 advantage that Buff Bay had coming into the game, to win with a 3-2 aggregate score
Happy Grove High went by Titchfield 2-0, and 8-0 on aggregate to make the finals.
Officials were among the supporters at Thursday’s match.
In the finals on Thursday, Happy Grove remained unbeaten for the season. Goal scorers for the Hector’s River team were
Kafele Gibbs 8th minute, Tatiana Leonard 11th minute, and Deniesha Harris 30th minute. Leonard was the top scorer for the competition with 16 goals followed by teammate Harris with 13 goals.
Quashanell Samuels pulled one back for Port Antonio High in the 29th minute.
