HAPPY GROVE IN WITH A SHOT

TACKY, PT ANTONIO OUT OF D’CUP QUARTERS CONTENTION

Coach Vincent Wallace of Happy Grove keeping hope alive

Happy Grove remained in contention to get one of the quarter-final spots in the daCosta Cup when they defeated Tacky of St Mary 4-2 Thursday, November 2, in Portland.
The game was played at the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE) field, at Passley Gardens, because of the poor state of Carder Park, Port Antonio where it had been initially scheduled for Wednesday, Nov 1. At CASE, because of the college’s activities, spectators were not allowed.
Happy Grove were assisted with their first points of the round of sixteen by a brace from Shavon Miller in the 35th and 90th minutes. That’s after Jabari Ellis in the 15th and Oshane Chambers in the 31st gave them the advantage.
For Tacky, Davaughnie Ellis had tied the scores at 1-1 with his strike in the 23rd minute. However, by the time Giovanni McLean scored, in the 87th minute the game was already lost.

With one match to go in the Round of Sixteen, Tacky are unable to progress but Happy Grove have possibilities given they are on equal points with Manchester in Group 2.
In Group 4, Port Antonio have been eliminated, like Tacky, having lost both of their matches.
It’s a long shot for William Knibb in Group 4, with just one point.
The final set of matches will be played Saturday, to determine the quarter-final pairings.
