HAPPY GROVE CONFIRMED, 3 OTHERS FROM NE LOOK GOOD

PT ANTONIO, BROWN’S TOWN & OCHI COULD MAKE IT

Four of the six schools from St Ann St Mary and Portland whch have reached the Round of 32 in the daCosta Cuo  have a good chance of going to the next round.

In fact, Happy Grove of Hectors River Portland have already qualified with their second consecutive win, after they beat Denbigh High 4-3 at Carder Park, Port Antonio, on Saturday, October 19.

In other Saturday games, Port Antonio beat Yallahs 4-1 at CASE, Portland.

(On the brink of taking Pt Antonio into final 16)

Scorers for Port Antonio were Krishan Johnson 20th, Kerone George 39th Dwayne Rodger 47th, and Shaquone Hardware 68th. Dontae Lewis got the consolation for Yallahs. The win for Port Antonio put them within touching distance of a final 16 spot.

But the other Portland school in the round, Titchfield tumbled out of contention with a 2-0 loss to high fliers Glenmuir who many see as making the finals. A near-disastrous situation with no one able to turn the lights on at Carder Park played out near the end of the match before the issue was resolved.

St Mary High the only team from St Mary to make it to the round of 32 suffered their second loss, this time to Christiana going down 4-0. It is in effect the end of the road for them with a match to go in a tough group.

TOUGH FOR OCHI

The two St Ann teams — Ocho Rios and Brown’s Town — stayed in contention, though the boys from the tourist resort have a very tough path ahead. They beat Cedric Titus by four goals to nil at Drax Hall on Saturday, doing wonders for their goal average. Keanu Reid pumped in a hat trick. But the four points garnered so far by Oho Rios may not be enough and they face a stern test away to Group 2 leaders Frome who have already qualified.

Brown’s Town clipped Munro 2-1 after going in 2-0 at halftime. They too have four points and are leading Group 4. They should find it easier to add to their tally even though playing away to Alphansus Davis, in Manchester. A point for Brown’ Town would make Coach Tyrone Codner happy, and take them into the Round of 16.
