A man, who stole a bottle of Vigorton tonic and a bottle of kiddie’s Pharmaton syrup from a pharmacy in Port Maria pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, April 27.
The accused man is Neville Tucker, who pleaded guilty to simple larceny.
Allegations are that on April 12, the manager of the pharmacy saw the accused man on CCTV camera removing items from the shelf.
These items were a bottle of Vigorton tonic valued at $1,500 and a kiddie’s Pharmaton multivitamin syrup valued at over $4,000.
The matter was reported to the Port Maria Police Station.
Tucker was eventually apprehended and charged by the police.
When asked by senior parish judge Yvette Wentworth-Miller if he had been charged for this offence before, Tucker indicated that he had been.
He said that he could not remember the number of times he was charged, but he said that he went to prison two times.
The judge later ordered a social enquiry report and an antecedent report.
However Walker explained that when he went to prison it did not help him.
“I go to prison and didn’t help me. I just want to go in a rehabilitation centre Your Honor. I am begging you for a chance,” Walker pleaded.
He also asked the judge to consider granting him bail as he had a person that would bail him.
However, Reid was remanded into custody and will be brought back to court on May 18 for sentencing.
