The promise of a father to take his 18-year-old daughter from Kingston back to Higgins Town, St Ann was broken by the bullets of unknown assailants on Friday, September 16.Forty-eight-year-old Kelly Robinson, alias ‘Kelly Ranks’ of Fletcher’s Land in Higgins Town, St Ann, was found dead,  with several gunshot wounds to the torso, in a ditch in the community, near St Ann’s Bay.Robinson’s only child, Tanikia, who was making preparations to attend school in St Ann in late October, is in a state of shock and disbelief that her father was shot and killed. In an interview with The Times, Tanikia explained that she was in Kingston at the time of the murder. She last heard from her father on Wednesday, September 14. In their last conversation, she explained that Robinson had told her that he would be coming on Friday (September 16) for her to take her back to Higgins Town. However, 48 hours later, her father did not get on the bus as he had been shot and killed.“My step-mom said that she and my father came in after 12 after a candle light. She said when she woke up in the morning (Friday, September 16), she did not see him. She thought that he had already left for Kingston,” Ms Robinson explained. However, by this time Robinson was lying in a ditch a short distance from where he lived.A release from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) stated that the St. Ann’s Bay police reported that “at about 7:20 a.m., on Friday, September 16, residents stumbled upon Robinson’s body in a ditch and called them. The police responded and during the processing of the crime scene, it was observed that the body had several gunshot wounds to the torso.”No motive has been established for the latest killing in the garden parish.Meanwhile, Tanikia explained that her family members were “in a state of shock.” She said she was saddened at her father’s passing, but was trying to cope.“He was a kind and loving person. He loved to play music and he loved to cook… He raised chickens, but was looking about his passport to see if he could go overseas to get a job,” she explained.Tanikia, her father and her step-mother lived together in Higgins Town. Robinson was originally from Kingston, but had moved to St Ann where he had been living for several years.
