PORTLAND MAN CHARGED
PORT ANTONIO, Portland; June 23; 2025
A Portland man has been charged with gun crimes after confronting, with a firearm, a man with whom he had a quarrel over land.
Charged is 32-year-old Jerome Robinson, otherwise called ‘Elle’, a farmer and construction worker of Windsor Rio Grande district, Portland.
He has been charged in relation to an incident in his community on Tuesday, May 27. Robinson was charged with assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a scheduled offence.
Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that at about 7:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 27, Robinson and another man had a quarrel in an ongoing dispute over the occupation of a piece of land.
On a day subsequent to that quarrel, the man was on his verandah when Robinson approached him, pulled up his shirt, and showed him a gun in his waistband. The man reportedly walked away.

Police further report that sometime during that day, Robinson saw the man at a nearby shop where an argument developed between them.
Robinson then removed a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the man. However, no shot was fired and the man departed from the area.
A report was made to the police, and Robinson was arrested. During the investigation, he was charged following a question-and-answer session.
His court date has not been finalised.
