3 CHARGED FOR GUN, AMMO IN PORTLAND
PORT ANTONIO, Portland
Three men have been charged following the seizure of one Glock pistol and a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds of ammunition during an operation in Port Antonio, Portland on Thursday, August 8.
Charged are 31-year-old La-Shane Phillips of Archer Ave, Morris Meadows, St Catherine; 19-year-old Dominique Perkins a block maker of Sunrise Crescent, Kingston 19 and 18-year-old Raheim Dixon a tiler of Kirkland Heights, Kingston 19.
Reports are that at about 9:30 a.m., lawmen were in the area when they saw three men in a motor vehicle. The police team went to investigate and the vehicle was searched. During the search of the vehicle, the firearm was found in the trunk of the motor car.
DROWNING IN CASTLETON
CASTLETON, St Mary
The St Mary police are investigating the death of a five-year-old girl who drowned at a river in Castleton in the parish on Independence Day Tuesday, August 6.
Police have identified her as Nashera Hackett of Park Circle, Portmore, St Catherine.
Reports from the Castleton Police are that about 3:45 p.m., Tuesday, Nashera and other family members went to the river to swim. While walking close to the river bank, Nashera allegedly slipped and fell into the water, where she got into difficulties and drowned.
Police have described it as death by misadventure.
