SHOT AT MAN IN HIGHGATE
A St Mary man has been charged with several gun-related crimes arising out of an incident in Highgate last year July.
He is thirty-five-year-old labourer Marlon Sterling of Frazerwood, Highgate, St. Mary.
Sterling has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, assault at common law and shooting with intent.
Reports from the Port Maria Police are that at about midnight on Sunday, July 9, 2023, a man was walking home when he was pounced upon by Sterling who was armed with a firearm. Sterling pointed a gun at the man. However, a woman intervened before it escalated. It is alleged that Sterling walked away but later approached the man and opened gunfire in his direction.
A report was made to the police and following an operation on Friday, May 17, Sterling was arrested and taken into custody and subsequently charged three days later.
He is scheduled to appear in the Portland Parish Court on Friday, May 24.
