GUARD MURDERED IN ROBBERY AT CAMBIO IN OCHI

ROBBERS ESCAPE WITH MILLIONS, MANAGER SERIOUSLY WOUNDED

 

A security guard was shot and killed and two people shot and wounded in a robbery at a cambio in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Monday afternoon.

Dead is Harold Bailey 51 years old, security guard of Mountain View Avenue Kingston and employed by Secure Security Services. The manager  of the cambio and a child in the building were injured.

Reports to the North Coast Times are that the robbers escaped with more than two million dollars (Jamaican) in foreign and local currency.

Reports are that the manager of Evergreen Cambio was among persons locking up the business, on Main Street at about 5:40, Monday, March 11, when a white Toyota Probox motor car registered 0354 GH drove up and stopped.

Two men, both armed with guns, came from the vehicle and opened gunfire at the security guard who was hit and fell to the ground. The men then opened gunfire at the manager hitting him multiple times all over his body. They proceeded to rob him of two bags containing an undetermined sum of money. The gunmen also took the security guard’s Taurus .38 revolver.

The men then escaped in the said motor vehicle, which went easterly, in the Milford Road Direction.

A  student who was in the vicinity was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper right arm.

Both injured persons were rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, where they were admitted in serious but stable condition.

The police are asking anyone with information about the armed robbery and murder incident to contact the Ocho Rios Police Station or the police confidential police lines.

The Ocho Rios CIB is investigating
