The 15-year-old girl, reported in the Times last week as being missing for weeks, is now in the care of state agencies.
On Monday representatives of the Child Development Agency (CDA) were in contact with the girl and her family after police brought her in at the Bamboo police station.
Reported missing was 15-year-old is Yashema Dawes, student at Brown’s Town High School. Her mother Mavis Patterson in bringing the matter to the North Coast Times had expressed concern about the girl’s welfare and whereabouts.
Following publication of the story, it is reported Yashema contacted her family saying she was fine and should not have been considered “missing”.
There were many comments on social media about the story that The Times posted to its facebook page as well as carried in print.
Because she is a juvenile and the matter is now at a delicate stage, the North Coast Times will not provide details of the story.
Her family is thankful that Yashema appears unharmed and they believe she will be taken care of and guided by the state agencies now involved.
