GUN FOUND IN WASHING MACHINE

The St. Mary police seized one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five
9mm rounds of ammunition during an operation in Frontier, Port Maria in the parish on Wednesday, January 1.
Reports from the Port Maria Police are that at about 6:20 a.m., lawmen on an operation in the area searched a one-bedroom block and steel house in Frontier Phase One. During the search, the firearm was found concealed in a cloth bag that was in a washing machine.
One man said to be a construction worker was taken into custody in relation to the seizure, however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
In a release, the St Mary police said under the leadership of Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace they were determined to continue building on the successes of the past year. “In 2025, we will intensify operations targeting crime hotspots, strengthen our partnerships with community leaders and stakeholders, and ensure that St. Mary remains a parish where people can live, work, and do business with confidence and peace of mind,” the release said
